Castro Street gives the city a genuinely walkable downtown, ending at the transit center where Caltrain, VTA light rail and bus lines converge. Shoreline at Mountain View holds the amphitheatre, golf links and a large bayland park with trails into the Don Edwards refuge. Google's headquarters occupies North Bayshore, and the Computer History Museum and NASA Ames at Moffett Field sit at the eastern edge. Stevens Creek Trail runs south from the bay. Employment is overwhelmingly technology, with Google, LinkedIn and a long list of smaller firms in and around the city.

Land residual thinking is unavoidable.
